Costume Contest Guidelines

You must have a valid Air Capital Comic Con Admission in order to participate.


Entrants 13 and under must have their parent's permission to enter, and must be accompanied by a
legal guardian or adult relative at the contest.


By entering this contest you agree to read and abide by the rules as posted and that failure to do so
will result in your disqualification from the contest and/or removal from the event.


Air Capital Comic Con and its staff reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone to the Cosplay event
for any reason.

Individual Contest - Saturday

Registration and Pre-judging 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM

Costume Contest Start 4:00

Pre-Judging

All Contestants MUST be signed up by 2:30 PM on Saturday

Prejudging will start at 11:00 AM on Saturday.

In prejudging you will have approximately 5 minutes to present your cosplay.

Please bring a printed photo of your character.  Photos of you making the cosplay would be helpful but are not required..

Prejudging will end at or before 3:00 PM.

 

Stage Judging

Contestant will need to arrive at the stage at 3:30 PM.

There is a limit of 50 entries in the Stage Cosplay Contest.

The contest will officially start at 4:00 PM. You will have thirty seconds maximum on stage to strike poses and present your cosplay to the judges.  The juniors category will be first, followed by beginner entries, and advanced contest entries.

 

Stage Rules

Everything brought onto the stage must be removed at the end of the time limit.  Messy substances including confetti, glitter, flower petals, and water are not allowed to be brought on the stage or backstage area.  You may not throw anything off the stage or into the crowd.

Climbing on to the stage or leaping off the stage is prohibited.

Meet The Judges 2022

PAUL RATTANA

Cosplaying since 2012, Average Asian Cosplay is a Wichita cosplayer. AAC attend many conventions including Naka-Kon in Overland Park, KS and Dragon Con in Atlanta, GA. Some of his cosplays are from popular shows or games such as Genshin Impact, Avatar: the Last Airbender, Ouran High School Host Club, RWBY and Overwatch. His favorite cosplays are Mako from Legend of Korra, Diluc from Genshin Impact and Lie Ren from RWBY.

AAC believes that cosplay is for everyone. “Always strive for more and never stop learning.”

Cosplaying since 2012, KitterBunz is an award winning master class cosplayer, an artist, and a gamer! She has a passion for armor making using a variety of materials and techniques.

KAL POWER

Hi! I am Kal Power. I have been involved in cosplay for over 10 years and have competed in many of the Midwest cosplay contests. I cosplay from many genres and fandoms. I enjoy making my costumes and have worked with a variety of medias like thermoplastics, foams, sewing, pneumatics, resin, 3D printing, and more. I look forward to meeting everyone at Air Capital Comic Con.

SUNDAY - COSPLAY FASHION SHOW

You may register on Saturday and on Sunday from 10 AM to 12 PM. Fashion Show starts at 1 PM. You will need to be lined up at the stage upstairs at 12:30 PM.

Come out on Sunday, walk across the stage and strike a pose!  Show off your custom costume creations.

Costumes from all genres (comics, anime, manga, scifi, video games, etc.) are welcome in the
contest.


The cosplay contest is a PG-13 event.  Offensive language and sexual humor is not allowed.
 Judgement on appropriateness of material is left to the discretion of the Cosplay Coordinator and
Cosplay Staff.  Please do not use any skin color changing makeup (blackface, etc).


Casual clothing will not count as a costume, all contestants must be in costume attire.
All costumes must provide as much body coverage as a bikini.  Body paint, latex pasties, thongs,
etc. are not considered adequate body coverage on their own.


Props must be able to pass the prop check and be peace bonded (see below).


Any Cosplay that has won an award at a previous convention of cosplay event may not be entered
into the Air Capital Comic Con Cosplay Contest.
